1st Nine Weeks
· Fraction review and information
· Writing fractions in simplest form
· Ratios
· Equivalent ratios
· Ratio tables
· Positive/negative integers (on a number line)
· Graphing coordinates on a coordinate plane (as it pertains to ratio tables)
· Rates
· Unit rates
2nd Nine Weeks
· Fraction Unit: review of adding/subtracting fractions, multiplying/dividing fractions and mixed numbers, locating fractions and mixed numbers on a number line (positive and negative)
· Decimal Unit: review of adding/subtracting decimals, multiplying/dividing decimals and mixed numbers, locating decimals and mixed numbers on a number line (positive and negative)
· Transforming numbers from fraction-decimal-percent
· Properties (if time permits): commutative, associative, and distributive
3rd Nine Weeks
· Expressions and Equations (all nine weeks)
1. Write and evaluate numerical expressions involving whole-number exponents.
2. Write and evaluate expressions that involve variables from word problems.
3. Know key equation terms: sum, difference, product, quotient, factor, coefficient).
4. Evaluate expressions at specific values of their variables, some of which involve order of operations.
5. Evaluate expressions that involve the properties of operations, for example the distributive property.
6. Identify when two expressions are equivalent (y+y+y+y=4y).
7. Translate between verbal expressions/sentences and algebraic expressions/equations.
8. Solve two-step linear equations.
4th Nine Weeks
· Geometry
1. Find a missing angle measure in problems involving interior/exterior angles and/or their sums.
2. Calculate the circumference and areas of circles.
3. Determine the surface area and volume of prisms, pyramids, and cylinders.
· Data Analysis
1. Misleading features on graphs
2. Determine whether or not a sample is biased.
· TCAP Review
· End-of-Year Project
