*** PLEASE READ: This nine weeks our concentration will be on decimals and fractions, with the majority of the time spent on fractions. After talking with the 7th and 8th grade math teachers, we know this is the weakest area for most students.
Students will be asked to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division operations WITHOUT calculators this nine weeks that involve fractions and decimals. If students do not know their multiplication facts, they will struggle. I am highly encouraging them to study and memorize their facts. They can make flashcards or google multiplication and division and find games to play online to help them. Please help me encourage them to take this extra time to help themselves. Overall, the grades for the 1st and 2nd nine weeks have been really good, so I don't want this nine weeks to be any different. However, it will take more work on their part if they do not know how to multiply and divide. Based on years past, this is the nine weeks that seems to result in the decline of grades. I am hoping by forwarning them and you ahead of time, maybe that will not be the case this year. Thank you, as always, for your support!!!!

- Our first Common Core test will be sometime between 10/23 and 10/25.
- Please note that grades are posted on Portal several times a week. If you do not have a portal login, please ask at the office because teachers do not have access to that information. I post grades every week, sometimes several times a week so check often to keep updated.
- Also concerning Portal, if you see an assignment that does not have a grade, that means I have put the assignment name in the system but have not yet posted the grade. If your child received a 0, it will have a 0 and not a blank grade. The averages are not correct if your child has a blank grade. It will be recalculated when a grade is entered.
- Spirals are a very important tool in our classroom and at home. Students are suppose to bring their spirals home every night that they have homework on a test or quiz the next day. Our notes have examples of every type of problem that they are required to know for homework, quizzes, and tests.
